Parkland Garden Club Tour 2007 |
 |
Every summer, the Parkland Garden Club organizes a tour of private gardens
in Allentown and its Western outskirts. This year the event will be held on
July 14th, with "Garden's Galore" as its theme. Eleven gardens will be
featured; at the Ballas/De Jesus garden, guest author Pegi Allister Howells
will have her books available to purchase. Titles include New Jersey
Gardener's Guide and Month by Month in Gardening in New Jersey
(both also relevant to gardening in the Lehigh Valley). Pegi hosts a call-in
radio program The Garden Show on WCTC-AM 1450 in New Brunswick as
well as a cable television show At Home with Pegi. She has spoken at
the Philadelphia Flower Show, and her writing appeared 15 years in the Home
News Tribune. She has published in many other periodicals, and currently
authors the newsletter for the Vegetable Growers Association of New Jersey.
Tour hours are from 9 to 4 (rain or shine).
Advance tickets are $12, and may be purchased at both Dan Schantz locations,
Eagle Point farm market, Lehigh Valley Home & Garden Center, Phoebe Floral,
C. Leslie Smith, Sweet Memories, and Herbeins. You may also purchase a
ticket at any of the gardens on the day of the tour, for
$15. Proceeds benefit Parkland Garden Club's scholarship fund and civic
activities.
