detailed seed-starting info below

Makes a dense clump of grassy leaves, with a nice display of round flowerheads held above. Our alliums seldom achieve the perfect form seen on show-piece photographs in catalogs and gardening magazines, but that's allright – these are nice enough. Our plants bloomed in their second year (photo top left), and upped the show with more flowers in subsequent years (photo top right is a fourth-year plant).

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
