Arctium lappa

Arctium lappa
Common name burdock
Family asteraceae
Life cycle biennial
Light

This has popped up in a few places in our garden - and it's a difficult one to remove, with its taproots down to who knows where. Even though it's supposedly a biennial, I'm always removing at least its topgrowth, so it never gets close to blooming - I think that's why it acts (unfortunately) as a perennial in our garden. I must admit it's got nice large architectural leaves, though.

This is a weed in our garden
