Purchased this in spring of 2004 from Bluestone. It bloomed, then disappeared. When I called Bluestone, they acknowledged they'd had trouble with them, and sent me some other perennials as a replacement. But next spring, what do you know - a bunch of volunteer seedlings! Together with S. kamtschaticum, the earliest-blooming sedum in our garden, and a little charmer. I hope it will continue to return, even if individual plants turn out not to be perennial.

However, this year, after they bloomed, they turned a very dead-looking yellow-brown--not attractive at all. They are gorgeous when they flower, though. |

| Rich Hurley | Apr 27, 2006 | I grew these from seed last year and the plants survived the winter -- they were even pretty evergreen. I've seen this species described as annual, biennial and/or perennial. I suspect it has to do with zone. I'm in zone 6 and the winter was not very harsh. Might be a tougher winter would have wiped out my palnts. |
