Silene dioica

Common name catchfly
Family caryophyllaceae
Life cycle perennial
Flowers pink (May)
Size 2'
Light sun-part shade
Cultural notes ordinary garden soil
From seed self-seeds in our garden
Seed ripensmid-June

My dad was surprised to see this growing in our garden - in his Dutch garden, he considers it a weed. And I admit, it's not the most refined plant, and its reseeding habits may get to be a bit much (we've not had it long enough to tell), but it sure is pretty when it blooms.

Silene dioica

In our garden, this plant grows in the following area: back yard island

Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list
