I love this tulip! Among the first ones to bloom in our gardens, it has the most amazing draw-you-in-close red and yellow color, on large flowers that stay fairly low. I purchased it from a reputable bulb purveyor as Tulipa eichleri, but a visitor to this site set me straight. Apparently, it is a Tulipa kaufmanniana variety or hybrid - it looks similar to photos I've seen of 'Scarlet Baby'. Unfortunately, further attempts at identification will be complicated by the fact that my clump has now expired. Now where did I stash those bulb catalogs.... |

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away... About my plant portraits

I can offer some regular bulbs or some parrot bulbs. Just about thing they are selling right now like at Home Depot. Or, I can offer stamps.

| kimonas | Aug 24, 2006 | Hello. Great pictures. Tulipa undulatifolia and tulipa eichleri are two diferent species. I now this because tulipa undulatifolia is a native plant in my country and they look very diferent than those in your picture.Keep up the good work. Kind regards. Kimonas |
