Hibiscus acetosella

Hibiscus acetosella
red-leaf hibiscus
Gets pretty tall by mid-summer: it has grown to about 5 ft by mid-August in this photo
Hibiscus acetosella

Synonym(s) Hibiscus eetveldeanus
Common name red-leaf hibiscus
Family malvaceae
Life cycle perennial (Z8-10)
Flowers pink
Size 4'
Light sun
Cultural notes moist soil

Grown for its dissected red leaves as much as (or more than) for its pink flowers. It's a tender perennial, but works well grown as an annual - the photo above left was taken in late July, from an early-spring indoor start to the seeds.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...
