Consolida regalis

Common name regal knight's spur; field larkspur
Family ranunculaceae
Life cycle annual
Flowers purple
Light sun-part shade
From seed germinate at room temperature, or sow outdoors in early spring
detailed seed-starting info below

Similar to common larkspur (ConsoAjaci:C. ajacis). The spurs on this species are slightly longer (up to an inch), on deep purple flowers. For those wielding a magnifying glass, another difference would be the absence of hairs on the style and seed pods.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
