Our garden hosts several lavender species and cultivars, and I've lost track of which is which (Lavandula veris, L. x intermedia, and L. 'Hidcote' are among the original purchases). At any rate, we love 'm all, for their flowers and their fragrance. Many gardeners around here have trouble growing lavender (probably due to drainage problems), but for some reason ours are quite happy (even with imperfectly draining soil). We did find out that they won't stand being transplanted late in the season - they don't have enough time to re-establish their root system before freezes set in.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.

Seed for this plant is included on my seed trade list
