Abutilon theophrasti

Abutilon theophrasti
velvetleaf
Oops - I let one not only bloom, but go to seed!
Synonym(s) Sida abutilon
Common name velvetleaf
Family malvaceae
Life cycle annual
Flowers yellow

Annual weed, quite recognizable by it soft-hairy leaves on an upright stalk. The small yellow mallow flowers and the round seedheads that follow also help to identify it, but I seldom see them - it's not hard to pull the plants before they get around to blooming.

This is a weed in our garden
