Oddity from southeast Asia, whose tuber (large corm, actually) sends up fleshy stems with leaves shaped like a peony's. The curiously speckled stems add to the visual interest. Mature specimens may do some freaky flowering too, but for now I'd just be happy to see mine survive and be happy in foliage. Deciduous, winter-dormant; requires moist soil during active growth.
