Commonly grown as an annual in the cold zones. Attractive slender, slightly glossy dark-green leaves. When I started mine from seed (photo below) in March, the plants took a long time to develop to blooming size, but they were quite nice when they finally flowered. If I start from seed again, I'll plan on starting earlier. Meanwhile, a couple of 'Serana Purple' cultivars purchased locally were among the first flowers we set out to spruce up the front yard of our new Houston home.
