Silvery mound of frilly foliage. Hopefully it will prove longer-lived than the even fluffier variety that's actually named Silver Mound, which peters out after one or two years in our garden. So far, it's in its second year. It looked decidedly dead through early spring, with budless uncomely stalks. Happily, it leafed out in May, and quickly grew into its lusciously feathery form. I'll have to remember not to plant any small rock garden specimens too close in spring - it's easy to forget how big around it gets.
