Evergreen woodland perennial native to the southeastern US, grown mostly for its glossy, slightly blotched leaves shaped like arrowheads. The dark flowers are interesting, but they are borne at the base of the clump, mostly out of sight. I'm curious how well ours will do in the heat of our Houston climate – if happy, it should grow into an attractive foot-wide mound.
