Wildflower of the southeastern United States forming an evergreen tuft of fine-grassy leaves, from which odd leafless stalks of not-quite-open yellow flowers arise in last summer through autumn. Occurs naturally in a range of conditions, but does not appreciate being crowded out – so it makes for a good rock garden specimen.
