Common name English boxwood; common boxwood Family buxaceae Life cycle shrub (Z5-8) Flowers white (spring) Size 6-8' Light sun For twelve years our garden went without the common boxwood, but it has finally arrived. As a foundation planting, no less! When we revamped the front perennial border, some persistent evergreen structure was called for at the back. I don't intend to clip it into a ball or any other regular shape, although it will require pruning to keep it to the size we intend.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
