Common name angel wings
Family araceae
Life cycle tender perennial (Z9-11)
Size 12-24"
Light part-full shade

Fancy-leaved foliage plant. Just like with hostas, hundreds of varieties with different leaf shapes and color combinations have been bred and are offered for sale. Ours came without cultivar names; I found some popular cultivars that resemble some of our varieties, so I'll tentatively identify them with those names. In our climate we probably should dig the tubers in the winter for storage, but since we don't really have a good place to store them, I don't bother - hoping they stay alive in place with some mulch coverage. With all of the pretty varieties purchased in 2017, that was a poor choice – they perished in the hard freeze of 2018. But since then, I've had newly planted varieties come though our milder winters; they don't show themselves until the middle of May, but then grow quickly.
