Calceolaria arachnoidea

Family scrophulariaceae
Life cycle perennial (Z6-11)
Flowers purple
Size 24"
Light sun
Cultural notes ordinary garden soil (not too dry)

Fuzzy-leaved perennial from Chile with interestingly shaped flowers that are held in clusters on stems well above the low-growing foliage. Benefits from being cut back hard after bloom. Twice now, seedlings planted out in spring haven't survived the season. This third year, the seedlings have grown much larger, so I'm hopeful they'll actually thrive in the garden on this attempt.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...
