Carex conica

Life cycle perennial

Sedge native to eastern Asia. Our seed came from 'Marginata', but it looks like the single seedling that resulted is plain green. It quickly flowered under the growlights, quite unlike other sedges I've grown from seed. In the end, I judged it to be not particularly gardenworthy, and declined to give it a position among our esteemed plants.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...

  1. Seed for 'Marginata' from '06 trade. Baggy 70F with light (lots of material, mostly chaff; 1 seedling in 2nd week)
