Makes a clump of gracefully arching foliage, mid-green edged in white, wider around than it is tall. It's been a troublefree citizen of our garden, in two partly shaded locations. Very nice.
| As nice in early winter as in summer |
|
| Eventually, hard freezes do in the foliage. The new growth, shooting up in early April, is rather interesting |

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. About my plant portraits

veronica utter April 22, 2010 | Apr 22, 2010 | I purchased this plant two years ago. I did not clip it the first Fall and it wintered well in NY State with just a little browning of the tips. It grew enormously last year and I did not cut it back. At this point the plant is about 3 feet wide and the new shoots came up. The old ones all browned from the severe winter here. I had planned on taking it out and moving it back several inches but was unable to get it out. This plant is enormous at this point. Today I cut it all back and I am hoping it will spring up again quickly as it is going to be in the garden tour the end of June. I think I cut it back soon enough that it will do just that. Very beautiful plant but enormous. I also read on another site that this plant only wants shade. I have it in sun most of the day and it is doing fine. |
Sis Johnson | Sep 24, 2011 | Thank you for your comments on morrowii "Ice Dance". I have a large plant and did not know if I should cut it back or not. I also have transplanted cuttings to other areas of my gardens. They do very well - never have a problem transplantins. Now I will tru to cut back my large plant and leave the smaller ones alone. Again, thank you for the information.
