Ceratostigma plumbaginoides

Common name false plumbago; leadwort
Family plumbaginaceae
Life cycle perennial (Z5-9)
Flowers blue
Size 12-18"
Light sun-part shade
Cultural notes ordinary garden soil (not too dry)

Groundcover native to western China. Works well planted with spring bulbs: the foliage will develop just in time to hide the declining bulb flowers.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...

Seed-starting details for this plant

  1. Seed from HPS/MAG '10/'11 exchange. Selected seed-like particles from chaffy mix, baggy 70F (1 germinated, 5d). The single sprouted seedling was damaged while unfolding the filter, the top growth breaking away from the root. However, it remained alive in the baggy, growing new rootlets after 2w
