ordinary garden soil (not too dry) |
We acquired two plants, from two different sources, over the years, both labeled 'Hot lips'. I prefer the more recently purchased specimen (at right), with somewhat darker foliage and a more pastel pink flower color - but both are fine plants. Reliable garden performers that keep the color coming in late summer. Although they prefer moist soil, they do fine with the conditions we provide (regular garden bed, with supplemental watering when things get crispy).
