Common name common chicory Family asteraceae Life cycle Flowers blue (July) Size 2-3' Light sun This wildflower colors the roadsides blue in summer. And, as you can see in the photo, the less frequently tended parts of our lawn as well. Coarse-textured and stalky, it's hard to see using this as an ornamental, even though its flowers are very pretty. Not an important weed of garden areas.
