One of the worst weeds in our garden. Once it has established itself, it's nigh impossible to get rid of. Plants sprout from white fleshy roots that run horizontal. Digging out the weed always gets the vertical part of the root system, but hardly ever the horizontal part. It's for rare weeds like this that I get out the Roundup... The purple flowers aren't bad, but we never let the plants get big enough to bloom.
