Six slender, separate petals in early spring on this species from eastern Europe and western Asia. Native habitat is moist, sandy soil. Suitable for rock garden or trough culture. In my first attempt, I set out my seedlings at too early a stage, and promptly lost them. I need to keep them in a pot for at least a year on my current attempt.
