Mounding plant with clusters of tubular orange flowers that attract hummingbirds. Our plant started off pretty scrawny, and took most of a season to grow into itself – but by early fall it was a fine bushy mound of leaves and flowers. Winter knocked it back, but not out, and by late April it was once again in full form, waiting for the hummers to arrive. It eventually did give up the ghost, for reasons unknown, in 2019; we replaced it with an unnamed cuphea variety, hoping the new one will be just as charming as 'Vermillionaire'.
