Walking through my garden one morning in late May, I was surprised to find this whispiest of weeds right in the center of the rock garden, in plain view. It must have been there for a while, because it was already mostly done blooming, but its unassuming profile kept it from being noticed. The ID comes from GardenWeb. D. sophia is native to Europe but naturalized in some areas of the US. A US-native species, D. pinnata, has slightly less finely divided leaves. I'm not sure which the photo specimen is.
