With its sparse, upright growth, it has more of a wildflower aesthetic than the tidy clumped border pinks - although up close, its flowers are both graceful and a bit curious, with their purple-bearded stamens. We grow it more as a curiosity than as a wow-plant, but are happy that it has survived many years in our garden - longer than any other dianthus.
