Common name Mexican male fern Family dryopteridaceae Life cycle hardy perennial (Z4-8) Size 18-24" Light part-full shade This cultivar grows shorter than the species, with dark green crinkled foliage.

Bedraggled by May - but wait, there's new fronds unfurling!

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
