Hybrid of E. perralderianum and E. pinnatum ssp. colchicum. Leaves are mottled red in spring, with clusters of large yellow flowers held above. According to Plant Delights Nursery, it is evergreen from zone 6 southward. In its first overwintering in our garden, it disappeared completely until new growth surprised us in mid-April. What a leaf! In its second winter, the leaves did not disappear, but calling them "green" would be stretching the truth. The dancing yellow flowers made an appearance though - right at the beginning of May
