Cultural notes |
needs excellent drainage, especially in summer |
Native to the western Sierra Nevada foothills, this species sports curvy slender petals, white at the tips and yellow toward the center. Unsure of its hardiness in our zone. It reportedly does well in poor soil that dries out in summer. Mature plants have broad leaves, my seedlings are whispy and allium-like – I hope they are the real thing.
