Semi-succulent shrub from Madagascar with impressive spines and pretty pink-red flowers (bracts, really, but they look like flowers). While reports of hardiness vary, it is labeled as a houseplant even here in the Houston area, so I expect it to perish in winter – but still decided to plant it outside, to enjoy for the season.
