A relatively new weed in our garden - I don't remember it appearing at all until a few years ago, but boy, it has caught up to its competitors quickly! This one grows most strongly in our vegetable garden (it likes high-fertility soil), where it grows rapidly from seedling to blooming size. There are always a few hiding away, no doubt dropping seeds by the thousands - so I guess I'm stuck with it. At least it's easy to pull up.

Does anyone have any idea how to effectively kill this weed, for good? Love the allotment, but if this continues, we would seriously consider giving up as this weed can and probably will beat us in the end. |
SueQ | Jul 22, 2010 | I've had this beast in my vegetable garden for the past 3 summers.....I'm glad to finally identify it...but nothing I have done has been successful in fighting it.......one site says the seeds can viability in the soil for 10 yrs...YIKES...I plan on moving the vegetable garden to another area in my yard...oddly enough it hasnt invaded the flower beds...truly does have a penchant for veggies.....Good LUCK to all joining the fight!!!! |
Nancy | Jul 13, 2014 | Apparently it is edible and very nutritious, so eating it might help. |

Rumdual | Nov 25, 2020 | Carlos,
You and I both are in the same boat. Most folks in a rich world like USA and a handful other countries looking most plants thrive and takes care of themselves as unwanted weeds. No wonder it is why most here have a shorter list of veggies for consumption. I've been eating lots of plants that are poisonous by USDA standard. I feel sorry for poor kids for the fact that I don't have access to the veggies I grew up eating because it's too "invasive" for the locals.😂🤣🤣😂😂🤣 |
