Spring-flowering gentian from the Alps, famous for its deep blue flowers, with a reputation for fussiness (sure enough, my attempts to date have been largely unsuccessful). It prefers cooler summer temperatures than our Pennsylvania climate offers, as well as consistent moisture through the growing season. If our seedlings grow strong enough, they will go into the north side of our rock garden, which comes closest to providing the conditions they need.
