Helleborus orientalis ssp. guttatus |
|
Common name |
lenten rose |
Family |
ranunculaceae |
Life cycle |
perennial |
Grown from seed several years ago, our single plant lived a hidden life in the shade of our arctic willow until last year, when I finally gave it a home with better light. Sure enough, it bloomed this year - but with greenish flowers, different from the spotted purple/white ones typically shown for this species.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. About my plant portraits
