Ipomoea nil/tricolor |
 |
| | A typical example of the variety that self-seeds in our garden - a reader identified it as similar to 'Star of Yelta' |
We've had Heavenly Blue and its descendents in our garden for years now, but this is the first time trying a different cultivar. The former are a cultivar of I. tricolor, while Scarlet O'Hara is listed as I. nil. I'm not sure how to tell the species apart, so I'm listing them together for now. Depending on which web page you look at, Scarlet O'Hara may be red or purple, with or without a white throat - possibly because some of them were grown from self-collected seed (as we are doing now). I guess we'll just have to wait and see what actually develops.
