This one came from a generous plant trader several years ago. I stuck it in a tight spot near the waterfall that runs into our big pond, and had nearly forgotten about it when I spotted it in late April the next year, decked out with a single but perfect flower. As happens with irises, it didn't last more than a few days. In the years since, it expanded itself nicely, so that I now have several flowers to admire in early spring.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston. One or more images of this plant are included in my stock photo catalog About my plant portraits
