Popularly grown vine, annual in temperate climates. For some reason, for several years the seedlings that I'd lovingly start in the basement would promptly die (or otherwise escape - they weren't there when I'd check later in the season) once set out in the garden. So this year, I placed them right in plain view in our patio area, to shame them into living. And sure enough, there're doing allright. So far, I find the leaves more attractive than the flowers, but it's only early summer.
