Some sources list this as a tender perennial, others say it's quite hardy. Based on four years in our garden, I say they're hardy. They don't get tall for us in their first year of growth, but they often do manage to bloom. The next year, they grow much taller. The flowers look just like many other mallows, to my eyes. We get a good number of volunteer offspring each year.
