Eastern US wildflower named for its inflated ball-shaped seedpods. Various herbal and medicinal properties are attributed to it. Ours started blooming while still under the lights inside. Shortly after setting out in spring, they disappeared. Then, in late September, I noticed a new plant, several feet away from where the others had been. It's not much of a garden specimen, but charming enough to allow some seedlings to persist.
