Ludwigia alternifolia

Common name rattlebox; seedbox
Family onagraceae
Life cycle
Flowers yellow (summer-fall)
Size 2-3'
Cultural notes moist-wet soil

This wildflower gets its common name from the odd, squarish seed pods. I'm sure I got seedlings, but they must not have survived, because I have no record of setting them out in the garden. Oh well...

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...
