Seed ripens | early July |
Striking color spikes in late spring-early summer. Will self-seed moderately if allowed to drop seeds. We do, since in our garden the individual plants are not particularly long-lived, lasting perhaps three or four years before fizzing out. The plants have long taproots, and severely resent being transplanted once they outgrow seedling stage. Our original plants were probably Russell hybrids.
