Magnolia grandiflora 'Southern Charm' Teddy Bear

Common name southern magnolia
Family magnoliaceae
Life cycle tree (Z7-9)
Flowers white (summer-fall)
Size to 18'
Light sun
Cultural notes ordinary garden soil

Dwarf variety of the common southern magnolia, suitable for smaller gardens. Evergreen leaves, deep glossy green on top with orange reverses, look good all year round; large fragrant white flowers. We planted ours to fill in our back fence line where we see too much of our backside neighbors' house. As the photo at right shows, it still needs to grow into this job.

In our garden, this plant grows in the following area: back fence border
