Paeonia lactiflora 'Festiva Maxima'

Paeonia lactiflora 'Festiva Maxima'

Common name Chinese peony
Family paeoniaceae
Life cycle perennial (Z3-7)
Flowers white (May-June)
Size 24-36"
Light sun-part shade

Popular herbaceous peony cultivar, whose large, mostly white flowers offer just a hint of dark red around some petal fringes. Ours is planted in a corner near our pond-side patio that has becoming shadier – I'm afraid I'll have to move it sometime soon, always a daunting prospect with peonies that have been in their place for many years.

We left this plant behind in our Pennsylvania garden (and wish it well); we don't grow it in Houston.
