I was hoping for flowers in more of a red tone, based on the cultivar name, but these are cheerful enough. In their second year in the garden, they started blooming in the second week in June. The flowers are typical enough for beardtongues; the leaves are more longer and narrower than most, and are supposed to be nearly evergreen. Some sources say it will rebloom in October.
