Asian woodland species. A few of ours showed off a flower in their first year of life. Which is just as well, because many primroses don't survive in our garden for a second year - Pennsylvania summers are hard on the more finnicky species. I like the powder-white flower stalk.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...
