Small bulb from South Africa, suitable for rock gardens. I purchased it from a catalog that claimed it was hardy here (Z6-10), online information doesn't support that claim - so I'll see what actually happens. This may be one of those plants that succumbs more quickly to winter wet than to winter cold - excellent drainage appears to be essential.
The photos were taken the first time I noticed any growth where I planted the bulbs. It doesn't exactly look like other photos I've seen, so the ID is tentative...
