New foliage delights with delicate purple-and-green effects in April. This is a second-year plant Common name American red currant Family grossulariaceae Life cycle shrub Size 6' tall by 3' wide Light full sun-part shade Cultural notes ordinary garden soil Supposed to get edible red berries in fall, but ours, grown from seed, haven't progressed to that stage yet.
