Sabal minor |
|
Common name |
dwarf palmetto |
Family |
arecaceae |
Life cycle |
tree (Z7) |
One of the hardiest palm trees, this shrubby species is reliably hardy to zone 8, and some of its varieties to zone 7. That means that its hardiness is still far from guaranteed in our zone 6 garden. We'll coddle our seedlings a bit and see if they feel like surviving our winters...
Update: I did very little coddling, and the plants did not make it through the winter.
