Scabiosa stellata |
 |
Annual scabious with a much more upright growth pattern than the perennial species we've tried. The flowerheads consist of a cluster of small flowers in the center, with larger (most likely sterile) flowers around the perimeter; on our strain, the center flowers are white, while the outer rim is powder blue. It wasn't until I took a close look at the seedheads that I understood the source of the botanical and common names - cute little stars in the center of each spent flower.
